Ten Aussie homes will feature in the new season of Selling Houses Australia, including a “real estate tragedy” in a Queensland mining town, a “health hazard” on the Gold Coast, a “time capsule” in NSW and a “worse for wear” rental in Victoria.
Real estate expert Andrew Winter, interior design expert Wendy Moore and landscape designer Dennis Scott are back on screens from March 22, and they will have their work cut out for them in the new property landscape.
The new season starts with the trio heading to the mining town of Clermont in Central Queensland.
We meet Paige, whose fiance Brandan bought the three bedroom house with a friend in 2009 for $285,000.
“It was the bachelor pad of Clermont,” Paige says. “I don’t even want to know what happened here.”

That friend later sold his share of the house to Paige, and the couple, who have two children, have spent the better part of a decade trying to offload their “liability”.
“When the mining industry is good, real estate is good,” Winter says. “When it is bad, real estate is bad.
“For 10 years it sat empty, and after three price drops, it failed to bring in a buyer.”
The yard is drab with dead grass, the huge shed unfinished and inside, there are at least four different floor coverings and a layout described as a “rabbits warren” by those who have inspected it.
“How could anyone envision themselves living here,” Winter says.
“It is quite a sad house, isn’t it. It could do with a great big cuddle, poor thing.”
Fixing the house is less about achieving top dollar and more about limiting any financial losses.
The experts have $30,000 to spend to make the sad house a happier one.
“It doesn’t feel like the same place at all,” Winter says when the reno is complete.
The episode airs at 8.30pm on March 22 on Foxtel.

EPISODE 2: Greystanes, NSW – Richard and Corinne have lived in the house for over 50 years but they want to move closer to family in Canberra. The home itself could be something from a museum, it’s like a preserved time capsule of design history. Floral wallpaper, green carpet tiles and a pastel bathroom, what’s not to love?
EPISODE 3: Redland Bay, QLD – Andrew and Caryl built this forever home in 2004, but they are left with no other option than to sell their home to avoid bankruptcy after Andrew’s business took a financial hit. They have worked around the clock to try and save their home, with friends reaching out to the SHA team for help to try and get them the best price possible.
EPISODE 4: Sunshine West, VIC – Lynda purchased this quaint cottage as an investment property, but the rental house has been left a bit worse for wear. She hired a builder to make it more appealing to buyers, but that builder went MIA leaving her in a bit of a pickle. She wants to sell to move to Queensland.
EPISODE 5: Elanora, QLD – After 30 years of living in the same house you would think that an accumulation of some things would be understandable. But this house has become a bit of a health hazard for Jenni, who doesn’t realise she is sitting on a real estate gold mine.
EPISODE 6: Maroubra, NSW – Romano and Iris moved from Italy and settled in Maroubra in 2010. A previous sale to a developer in 2018 fell through, and then Romano was left alone in the house after Iris sadly passed away. The couple’s daughters have been on hand to help, but are concerned about the stairs and the different levels. Tired and old fashioned, the family need help to renovate the house so Romano can move onto the next chapter of his life.
EPISODE 7: Ipswich, QLD – Deb, her daughter and her husband, at the time, called this acreage property home. But when the couple separated, Deb’s ex-husband stayed at the property, with the state of the property deteriorating over time. He has moved out and Deb just wants to sell it and part ways with her ex.
EPISODE 8: Como, NSW – Gareth and Esther were ready to hit the road and follow their dream of travelling around the world in their converted bus. But they could not sell their 8-bedroom house. The self-proclaimed “Carnies” could not work out why. The large amusement rides parked up at the front of the house might have had something to do with it.
EPISODE 9: Terrigal, NSW – Houses in Terrigal are selling fast … just not Grant’s house. It offers ocean views, four bedrooms and a pool. But it is lacking a bathroom, walls and parts of the ceiling. Grant needs help to finish the job so he can look after his mother and purchase a smaller house for them both.
EPISODE 10: Roselands, NSW – Mary and Tom saved for many years and finally purchased their dream home. But eight years on, a degenerative disease diagnosis for Mary means they need to downsize to a more suitable home and hopefully be mortgage free so they can retire. Their home has been on the market for a year, and the agent feels it needs an update and that the concrete backyard is putting off buyers.
